Signing the Admin/Coach Code of Conduct
This guide explains the Admin/Coach Code of Conduct on SportCerts, what it is, when you need to sign it, and how to do it.
Who this is for
Every Team Admin or Head Coach on SportCerts needs to sign the Code of Conduct once. This includes:
Coaches who got migrated from the old platform
New coaches signing up for the first time
Parents who are adding an Admin/Coach role to their existing account
Additional staff added by the Team Admin or Head Coach do not need to sign the Coache's Code of Conduct. Only the main user who sets up and is accessing the account.
What the Code of Conduct is
The Admin/Coach Code of Conduct is a one-time agreement that outlines the standards SportCerts expects from every coach using the platform. It covers things like sportsmanship, treatment of players and parents, and responsibilities around event eligibility.
It's new to the platform, every Admin/Coach signs it whether they were on the old SportCerts or not.
Why it's required
Until the Code of Conduct is signed, your account is in a limited state. You can log in and view your dashboard, but you cannot:
Create or edit teams
Add players or staff to a roster
Register a team for an event
Download a card packet
Once signed, all of those features unlock immediately.
Steps
If you're creating your SportCerts account for the first time, during the Team Admin/Coache's onboarding you will be asked to sign the Code of Conduct. If you're a migrated user from the previous platform, then you will need to follow the steps below to sign:
Log in at sportcerts.com.
You'll see a banner or prompt on your dashboard: Sign the Admin/Coach Code of Conduct.
Click the prompt.
Read the full Code of Conduct.
Type your full name in the signature field.
Click Agree and Sign.
You'll be returned to your dashboard with full access unlocked.
The whole thing takes about a minute.
Notes
Signing is one-time. You won't be asked to sign again unless SportCerts updates the Code of Conduct in the future.
The signed copy is on file. SportCerts records your signature, the date, and the version of the Code you agreed to. You can request a copy by contacting support.
Read it carefully. The Code of Conduct is a real agreement, not a click-through. Take a minute to read it before signing.
Troubleshooting
I don't see the Code of Conduct prompt on my dashboard. Try refreshing the page. If you've already signed it, the prompt won't appear, you can verify your signed status by trying to create or edit a team. If the action works, you're signed.
I clicked the prompt but the page is blank or won't load. Refresh and try again. If it still won't load, try a different browser. Contact support if the issue persists.
The Agree and Sign button is grayed out. You probably haven't typed your name in the signature field yet, or your typed name doesn't match the name on your account. Make sure your typed signature matches your account's first and last name.
I made a typo when signing. Contact support. We can reset the signature so you can re-sign.
I closed the page before finishing. No problem, the prompt will reappear next time you log in. You can also click directly into any team or event registration action and you'll be redirected to the Code of Conduct page.
FAQ
Can I see the Code of Conduct before I sign? Yes. The full text is shown to you on the signing page before you agree. You can also request a copy from support if you want to review it ahead of time.
Is this legally binding? Yes. Your typed signature, the timestamp, and the version of the Code you agreed to are recorded as a digital signature.
What happens if I don't sign? Your account works, but you can't manage teams or register for events until you do. You won't be able to coach a SportCerts-registered team without signing.
Will I have to sign it again next year? No. Signing is one-time. If SportCerts updates the Code of Conduct in the future, you'll be asked to re-sign — but that's not on a regular schedule.
I have multiple roles (Admin/Coach and Parent). Do I need to sign separately for each role? No. The Code of Conduct applies to your Admin/Coach role only. Parents don't sign a Code of Conduct (they sign a parent waiver per child instead).
I disagree with part of the Code of Conduct. Can I sign with edits? No. The Code of Conduct is a standard agreement and can't be modified. If you have concerns, contact support before signing.
