Setting your password and logging in for the first time

This guide walks you through setting a password and logging into SportCerts as an Admin/Coach, whether you're a brand-new user or a returning user who got migrated from the old platform.


Who this is for

  • Admin/Coaches who got the welcome email and need to set a password on the new platform

  • Returning Admin/Coaches who can't remember their password

  • New Admin/Coaches who just created an account and aren't sure where to start


Before you start

You'll need:

  • The email address on file with SportCerts

  • Access to that email inbox


Steps for migrated Admin/Coaches (got a welcome email)

  1. Open the welcome email from SportCerts.

  2. Click the forgot your password link - https://sportcerts.com/forgot-password

  3. You'll land on on the forgot password page at sportcerts.com. Type your email address in the input box.

  4. Click Send reset link.

  5. Check your inbox for a "Password reset" email from SportCerts (sender: noreply@sportcerts.com).

  6. Click the green "Reset Password" button in that email.

  7. You'll land on on the set your new password page at sportcerts.com.

  8. Enter a new password (twice, to confirm).

  9. Click Set New password.

  10. You'll be logged in automatically.

When you log in for the first time, you'll be prompted to sign the Admin/Coach Code of Conduct before you can manage teams or register for events. See the article on signing the Code of Conduct for details.


Steps for any user who forgot their password

  1. Go to https://sportcerts.com/forgot-password

  2. You'll land on on the forgot password page at sportcerts.com. Type your email address in the input box.

  3. Click Send reset link.

  4. Check your inbox for a "Password reset" email from SportCerts (sender: noreply@sportcerts.com).

  5. Click the green "Reset Password" button in that email.

  6. You'll land on on the set your new password page at sportcerts.com.

  7. Enter a new password (twice, to confirm).

  8. Click Set New password.

  9. You'll be logged in automatically.


Notes

  • The password reset link expires after a short period for security. If you don't click it within a few hours, request a new one.

  • Use a strong password — at least 8 characters, mixing letters, numbers, and symbols.

  • SportCerts doesn't store your password directly. We can't tell you what your old password was; we can only help you reset it.

  • If you also have a parent role on SportCerts, your password is shared across both roles. One login, one password, switch roles from your user menu.


Troubleshooting

I didn't get the reset email. Check your spam or junk folder. If it's still missing after 5 minutes, the email you entered may not match an account on file. Try a different email address. If you're still stuck, contact support.

The reset link in my email doesn't work. Reset links expire. Go to sportcerts.com/forgot-password and request a fresh link. Always use the most recent one in your inbox.

I get "Email not found" when I try to reset. Either the email isn't on file (typo, or you used a different email originally) or your account hasn't been migrated. Contact support with the email you think should be on file.

I'm logged in but can't access my team or roster. You probably haven't signed the Admin/Coach Code of Conduct yet. Look for the prompt on your dashboard and complete it — it takes about a minute.

I'm getting logged out repeatedly after setting a new password. Try clearing your browser cookies for sportcerts.com and logging in again. If it persists, try a different browser to rule out a browser extension issue.

I want to change my password later (not because I forgot it). Use the same forgot-password flow. There isn't a separate "change password" screen inside the app — the reset link works for both forgotten passwords and intentional changes.


FAQ

Will my old SportCerts password still work? No. Passwords didn't carry over from the old platform. Every migrated user sets a new one.

Can I log in with Google or Facebook? Not at this time. SportCerts uses email and password only.

Why do I have to sign the Code of Conduct? I never signed one before. The Code of Conduct is new to the platform — every Admin/Coach signs it once. It takes about a minute and unlocks team management and event registration.

Is there a "remember me" option? Your browser will keep you logged in unless you sign out or clear your cookies. There isn't a separate checkbox.

How do I log out? Click your username dropdown on the top right of your dashboard corner, then choose Log out.

Can I share my login with an assistant coach? No. You can add assistant coaches as staff on your team — see the article on adding staff.
